Tom Tom Club, Live @ The Clubhouse, Live In Your City, And Live on Your CD Player
2-CD Set To Be Released on iMUSIC on September 23, 2002
Tour Kicks Off On September 21, 2002

Sept. 9, 2002 - Los Angeles - Think Tom Tom Club, and you'll probably be bombarded with an aural imprint of their mega-hits, "Genius of Love" and "Wordy Rappinghood." If you've seen them live, you'll likely experience a similarly intense memory of the ultimate blast-of-a-band. Because, in addition to their technical chops (the partnership of Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth goes back thirty years), Tom Tom Club are experts in the area of pure, undiluted fun.

Live @ The Clubhouse, to be released on September 24th, is akin to a Greatest Hits package of Tom Tom Club as performed live. The songs on the two-CD set cover the span of the Tom Tom's career, and include original songs as well as five carefully selected covers. In discussing the album, which represents material Tom Tom Club have performed all over the US and Europe, Frantz comments on two of Live @ The Clubhouse's classic cover songs: " '96 Tears' and 'Take Me To The River' - those are just two of the songs that have been a great influence on us in terms of both the music and the vibe," he says. Equally classic are Tom Tom Club's originals, including songs from their self-titled gold album, as well as cuts from Close To The Bone, Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom, Dark Sneak Love Action, and The Good, The Bad, and The Funky. They've left their mark on the pop and rock landscape, but they've also helped define the sounds of hip-hop - they're one of the most sampled groups in modern history.

"There's nothing that gives us more pleasure than performing our music," says Tina Weymouth, noting that songwriting began long before the band had ever recorded, simply because they wanted to perform for an audience. "I love our band - I love being with them and I love the vibe that's created between our band and our audience. It's an amazing, uplifting experience."

Weymouth goes on to talk about the spiritual nature of what Tom Tom Club does, noting that she was raised to believe that we were all put here to leave the world a better place. "I'm not a doctor - I can't heal a broken bone. But with the Tom Tom Club, I can bring music. We were on tour after 9/11, and people were falling into our arms, telling us it was the first time they had gone out since the event, and we made them feel like we were healing them. I felt so good that I was there doing something positive. I felt like the Red Cross," she says.

Founding members of Talking Heads, Frantz and Weymouth celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary shortly after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since the demise of Talking Heads, they've worked in tandem as producers (including production on Ziggy Marley's Grammy Award Winning Album, Conscious Party), collaborated with former Talking Head Jerry Harrison on The Heads' No Talking Just Heads album, and released five Tom Tom Club studio albums.

Tom Tom Club, who'll begin touring on September 21st, will spend a good part of the remaining year on the road. Dates will be announced shortly.
